Ford compact SUV EcoSport's success had hit a small bump. The Company has decided to recall diesel variants of EcoSport in India to repair minor defects in the component which aids in starting the engine.

The following statement was issued by Ford India on Thursday, " As part of routine checks, we discovered a potential concern with EcoSport diesel variants related to the Glow Plug Module which requires relocating the module. We are contacting customers to take their vehicle to their Ford dealership to have the work carried out ".

Ford plans to offer the 2013 Fusion in three different versions, a normal gas version, a plug-in and a hybrid (gas + electric). Ford says that all the three version may be top in their class, in terms of fuel efficiency.

According to a survey released by Consumer Reports, Ford is top rated by car shoppers for safety, quality and value. This might be obvious by seeing Ford's strong end-of-year sales stats.

Ford’s sales for 2010 rose 15.2% while the Toyota’s were down 0.4%, which previously lead for customer satisfaction.

For this survey, Consumer Report took help of more than 2,000 people in car-owning households, Consumer Reports found that positive perceptions of Ford have increased by 35 percentage points over two years.

Ford settles Explorer accident suit after losing $131 million verdict

(Bloomberg) Ford Motor Co. settled a lawsuit over the death of a New York Mets minor league baseball player in an Explorer accident after a jury ordered the company to pay his estate $131 million.

A Jasper County, Miss., jury awarded the verdict today and the case was settled on confidential terms before punitive damages could be considered, said attorney Tab Turner, who represented the family of Brian Cole.

Cole, 27, was ejected from an Explorer in a March 2001 accident in Florida while he was going home from spring training with the Mets. His family claimed the Explorer's seat belt was defective and failed to keep him in the vehicle during the rollover, Turner said.

The new version of 2011 F-150 SVT Raptor pickup, featuring a larger standard engine and more seating capacity had now accepting Bookings.

2011 Ford Raptors comes with a standard 6.2-liter V-8, rated at 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. The 6.2-liter engine was an option on the 2010 Raptor, while a 320-hp 5.4-liter V-8 was the base engine. The change gives the Raptor an additional 91 hp. Ford says the 2011 Raptor will tow up to 8,000 lbs., making it suited as a support and chase truck, as well as a race truck.

The iron block, aluminum head V-8 in the Raptor is a tuned-up version of the unit used in Ford's Super Duty pickups.

The other major tweak for the Raptor is the addition of a SuperCrew cab option. The SuperCrew cab adds 12 inches to the truck's wheelbase and overall length.

Ford recalls its Windstar minivans over it doubt on axle-fracture

Ford Motor Co. said it is recalling 575,000 Windstar minivans in the U.S. and Canada because rear axles may corrode and break.

The voluntary recall affects 1998 to 2003 model-year Windstars in areas where road salt is used in cold weather, according to a notice today on the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Web site.

“After many years of vehicle service in these areas, corrosion can weaken the rear axle, making it susceptible to torsional stress,” Ford said in a report posted on NHTSA’s site.

Ford has received about 950 complaints alleging cracking in the rear axle, including seven that resulted in accidents causing three injuries, Said Deep, a Ford spokesman, said in a telephone interview.

Based on the 2011 Ford Mustang GT, the new model 2012 Mustang Boss 302 is inspired by the classic 1969 Mustang Boss.

Ford engineers, stylists and designers have strengthened, lightened and refined the Mustang GT to create "a race car with a licence plate". The team used the BMW M3 as a performance benchmark for the Mustang Boss 302 and claim the car can match Munich's performance saloon for lap time at Laguna Seca.

A new air intake and modified camshafts boost power from 406bhp to 434bhp in the 5.0-litre V8 engine taken from the standard Mustang GT, while 380lb ft of torque is produced. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed close-ratio manual gearbox.

(Bloomberg) When the all new Ford Explorer 2011 will go on sale in this December, Ford will ask buyers of its redesigned 2011 Explorer to pay a premium for a small 4-cylinder engine. The Explorer's standard engine will be a 3.5-liter V-6 with 290 horsepower, 53 more ponies than the optional 4-cylinder.

The V-6 version of the new Explorer will have a base price of $28,995, including delivery, or about $1,000 below the current Explorer. The Limited model will have a starting price of $37,995. Pricing on the optional EcoBoost engine, which will be available in early 2011, has not been released.

Ford hopes to convince consumers they should spend to save when it unveils the Explorer at events in New York, Chicago and other locations today. The smaller engine has technology Ford said will give the seven-passenger SUV the same fuel economy as Toyota Motor Corp.'s Camry sedan that gets 19 mpg in city driving and 26 mpg on the highway. That's more than 30 percent better than the 2010 Explorer.

Closing Mercury will cost Ford nearly $500 million, says CFO : AutoNews

One of the Ford Motor brand Mercury, It could cost nearly $500 million for the Ford to shut its Mercury brand, CFO Lewis Booth said.

In an Exclusive interview to Automotive News, Booth said Ford took special charges of $247 million in the first half of 2010 to cover the cost of ongoing dealer reductions and shuttering the Mercury brand. He estimates the total cost to close the brand will be twice that amount.

About 700 of the 1,700 franchised Mercury dealers in the United States have signed agreements to close their stores in return for cash compensation, Booth said.

New Ford Focus ST 2011 is all set for Paris Debut.

A source close Ford has reportedly confirmed to Autoexpress magazine that the new refreshed ST version of the new Focus hatchback will make its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in September.

It is possible that Ford may introduce the three-door hatchback version of the Focus alongside the ST in Paris. Either way, as with the current model, the hot hatch will be offered in both three- and five-door flavors.

Ford's product development boss, Derrick Kuzak, has already confirmed that the new ST will make use of the company's new EcoBoost engine . This means the ST's 225HP 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five will be replaced by Ford's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost unit, which is already offered on the refreshed S-MAX and Galaxy MPVs with 203HP, as well as on the facelifted Mondeo in 203HP and 240HP versions.

Ford Co. reached an out-of-court settlement and avoided long term litigation on a patent infringement lawsuit with Paice.

Both companies filed lawsuits against the other regarding a patented technology used in hybrid versions of the Ford Fusion sedan and Escape crossover.

The dispute surrounds the same patent -- U.S. Patent No. 5,343,970 -- that Paice and Toyota Motor Corp. have been litigating over since 2005. Paice holds 11 U.S. patents related to hybrid-vehicle technology.

“We are pleased to have reached an amicable resolution,” Ford and Paice executives said in a joint statement. Neither company would comment further.

Ford's SVT performance division, says that production of the 2011 Shelby GT500 to 5,500 units for this model year. According to Ford spokesman Henry Platts, the move is not the result of slow sales, but rather a desire to maintain exclusivity. In fact, sales of Ford's king of the Mustang range have "exceeded expectations," with in excess of 3,300 orders already placed.

Ford Motor Co. has selected LG Chem's U.S. unit Compact Power Inc. to supply battery packs for an electric Focus compact car for U.S. production starting in 2011, the automaker said today.

Compact Power will begin assembling lithium-ion battery packs from cells for the Focus electric car at a site to be determined, Ford said.

General Motors Co. also chose Compact Power to supply batteries to its Chevrolet Volt extended range electric vehicle.

The first cells for the Focus electric battery will be produced by LG Chem in South Korea, Ford said. Cells will be produced later at a new site in Holland, Mich., it said.

After Toyota, now its Ford and Chrysler turn. Ford Motor Co. is recalling 33,700 of its Transit Connect small commercial vans over an interior liner while Chrysler Group said it was recalling certain 2010 SUVs and trucks over a possible brake fluid leak.
Ford is recalling the Transit Connect vehicles sold in the United States and manufactured from December 2008 through May of this year due to an interior liner that fails to meet all safety requirements for head protection.

"In the event of a vehicle crash, an occupant could be at increased risk of injury," the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Friday in a letter to Ford.

Ford Motor Company has announced  updates to its SYNC technology that promotes safer alternatives to texting while driving.

New MyFord Touch-equipped cars will let drivers block incoming calls and texts with a “Do Not Disturb” button, but the biggest addition is support for a new protocol (MAP) that will allow SYNC to read aloud incoming text messages over Bluetooth (Bluetooth).

New and Future BlackBerry owners will be the first to benefit as RIM is working with Ford to make audible text messaging via SYNC possible. RIM has agreed to implement the Bluetooth standard MAP — Message Access Profile on new BlackBerry devices moving forward. BlackBerry MAP integration will create an enhanced connection between the smartphone and the SYNC system so that it can read aloud incoming text messages.
